Heterologous transplantation of tissue culture lines.
نویسنده
چکیده
Attempts were made to transplant neoplastic and non-neoplastic cell lines from tissue culture to animals. The subcutaneous space of hamsters and mice conditioned with x-radiation and cortisone as well as the brains and eyes of normal, unconditioned guinea pigs were used as transplantation sites. No growth of non-neoplastic cell lines was obtained in any site. Neoplastic cell lines grew poorly to produce in most instances small tumors without differentiation or organization in conditioned hosts. IIowever, transfer of such tumors to the brains or eyes of normal guinea pigs resulted in large growths capable of serial transplantation and characterized by an organized structure and an abundant vasculature. The latter behavior contrasted sharply with the complete failure to obtain growth in normal guinea pigs with the same cell lines taken directly from tissue culture.

A clinically oriented experiment on the effect of mixed culture of neonate spinal cord transplantation on recovery of spinal cord injury
In spinal cord injuries, direct trauma by edges of sublaxated or dislocated vertebrae and indirect ischemia as a result of vascular injury necrotize the neural tissue. After spinal cord injury, tissue loss appears as micro- or macrocavitation. Accumulations of non-neuronal cells substitute spared tissue and halts axon regrowth. Lack of supporting cells (secreting trophic factors and matrix) agg...

متن کاملTissue Engineering Scaffolds: History, Types and Construction Methods
Tissue engineering is a rapidly growing research field, potentially capable of de novo tissue and organ construction. This approach is used to improve efficiency both in the tissue and cell culture. This method is required to provide bodies in vivo three-dimensional conditions outside of the body (ex vivo). To achieve this goal, given tissue cells are cultured on the tissue engineering scaffold...
متن کاملGrowth control of heterologous tissue culture cells in the congenitally athymic nude mouse.
A variety of heterologous mammalian cells were inoculated into nude mice and scored for tumorigenicity. The cells tested were from primary cell cultures, established cell lines of neoplastic origin, established cell lines of nontumor origin, and primary cell cultures transformed by oncogenic viruses. Regardless of the animal species of origin, every cell line that was tumorigenic in some other ...
متن کاملExpression of Neurotrophins in Adipose-derived Stem Cells during in vitro Culture and Posttransplantation in Parkinsonian Rat Model
Background: Adipose tissue stem cells (ASCs) cause faster repair of damaged tissue posttransplantation by releasing growth factors in neurodegenerative diseases. ASCs secrete factors in the culture medium called conditioned medium (CM) in vitro. This study investigated the expression of neurotrophin genes in vitro culture and transplant of ASCs in Parkinsonian rats. Materials and Methods: In th...
